Mama - yes indeed one of my best friend sent him to me. She knows I miss home especially during the holidays.
Justmee This is a typical Christmas decoration a smoker (Raeuchermaennchen) you place a certain incest cone in it and the smoke comes out through the opening of the mouth giving the illusion of him smoking his pipe. I love these the smell of the incense brings back wonderful memories of holidays when I was young.
Turtle You can get them online but one the once from the Erzgebirge are the original. If you google erzgebirgische raeuchermaennchen you should get a hit for a few sites.
Hippo well if you leave him unattended and the wrong incence then yes he can start a fire and kill you but other whise he is harmless.

Jin - Yes it is. Well they have 3 or 4 different types (maybe more now)
As for the spelling thats easy I am from the Erzgebirge (ore mountain range) and Raechermaennchen is what these guys are called so its one of those terms that I heard/read/written all my life.
Its one of those German smokers. My wife calls gegaws like that "dust catchers".
