Pissed

You know I was in such a good mood after my fun weekend in Vegas with Jin. We had a ball, dressing up to go out, gambling, eating good food ect. I didn't even loose it when my mom dragged me shopping upon picking me up from the Airport and made me go to hellmart. But then...

Last night I called my friend that had given me $20 to "loose" in Vegas. Before leaving I had asked what if I win and she had said we'd split it 70/30. Well as you read in the previous post I did win - with Jin giving me the winning number. So I figured we'd split the money in 3. So when I mentioned to my friend that I had $13 for her from our winning she was pissed. I didn't think much about it until I walked into the Italian restaurant tonight. She was still mad and it turns out she was mad that I was only giving her $13 not the $20 + some of the winnings. And that did it, at that point all joy had gone. I knew then and there I didn't want anything to do with that cash. So I was going to give it all to her. Of course I was $14 short - $13 that I had given to Jin as her share and the $1 which chips I didn't cash since I liked it as a souvenir. But Karma must have been on my side as I made exactly $14 in cash tips so I stuffed it all in her purse.

She found it right before I left and got mad saying I didn't need to be a smartass. But honestly after her being mad at me all night for this I wasn't about to touch this again. There is no way in hell. She said she was going to play the lotto with it and split the money but honestly I do not want anything of it. Its caused to much grieve so there is no way in hell I'll touch it again.

I got home and told my mom about this. She said yet it is typical that if you win with someones money you are expected to give them the initial money and then the winnings. I don't know my question is what is proper? I mean I thought I was being generous splitting it even I never thought that the initial money would be given back I only thought about the winning. Oh well live and learn that was the last time I ever do that.

the rest of the week is busy too. I am working in the office Tuesday and then at the Italian at night and Wednesday its the office and then the German restaurant. And then its stay up all night so I can pack my stuff as we are leaving noonish Thursday. We'll stop at the Indian Restaurant for lunch on the way to the airport.

I know its pathetic ...

(written 10/4/07 2:55pm) ... but I just can't help it. I am so sad and homesick right now I was actually crying. I turned 30 today (and yes that is sad too but not the point of this post) and Grumpy and I were to go for dinner with some friends of mine and just celebrate. Well one by one people canceled and even Grumpy had to because he was working late. It was down to just 3 my Scottish friend, Ms. D. and myself. Then I call my friend to find out about the logistics and I can tell that she wasn't into the idea of going. So I told her to call me later which she did to let me know that she was canceling too...

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I couldn't finish this post - its now the 6th and I will try to do so now. Yes I ended up spending my birthday at home alone. I started feeling a little better after I got home. One of my friends from Germany was online and we chatted and slowly I calmed down. I was still really upset and part of that came from the way we celebrate birthdays in Germany. There you have a celebration/party with your friends and family and everyone comes and or calls. They all did call and email even people I hadn't spoken to in a year. Hell even my sister in the first time of gee I think 10 years said happy birthday. Grumpy ended up feeling miserable too because he had said the week before it would be hard to take off so we agreed we'd go out the night before (which we did) and he'd hook up with us after we get back from dinner. Well with me not going for dinner and being so upset he felt bad for being stuck at work till after 10pm. I told him its okay and it wasn't his fault but it was still hard on him too.

I can honestly say this was the worst birthday as far as my local "real" world but there were lots of warm cyber wishes and even gifts. I loved the dinner and movie date Grumpy and I had the night before too.

All in all I felt like Carrie from Sex in the city in the episode where they were to celebrate her birthday at this restaurant and everyone was late. Carrie sat their and no one showed - that was me and I will not do this again. I much rather work or go out of town like we did last year.

Now its back to homework while I am snacking on my sweet box from Ms. Jin.

Why is it ...

... that when I am broke the restaurant is dead? I have only gotten 2 shifts a week lately which is okay as long as I make money on those days. Last week I was sent home one day because it was dead so I only had one day I worked. The problem was that I made only about $50 in credit card tips so my paycheck this week was only $35. So I was really hoping I'd make some money last night. There were 4 of us scheduled but with only one reservation I told R. we needed to sent someone home. He agreed and one of the others went home (as I did the week before). I still didn't get ONE fucking table. We were dead. One table I tried to sit in my section refused. Then nothing until after 7 and that one was a mom with 2 little kids. At that point I had said I was leaving at 7:30pm so I wasn't gonna take a table be stuck and maybe get $5 of it. I did get tips from 2 take out orders I took so I made $9 and got dinner.
Now normally that wouldn't be to bad but I am pretty broke right now and Grumpy is quitting the bar. It doesn't help that I only got one shift next week and maybe one the week after. I HATE BEING BROKE!!! I am however glad that Grumpy is leaving the bar. Things keep getting worse over there. Couple of weeks ago that shooting and then last Friday they had a big fight. He had some bruises to show for and he came in on the end. He was checking the parking lot when he noticed the blinds being messed up on one of the big windows and then the window chattered. So he went inside after calling the cops to take down the guys and holding them there till the boys in blue came around. He didn't even realize he got hit till I pointed out the bruises!

Anyway I am hoping tomorrow will be busy so I can make some money and have a paycheck on Tuesday!
Oh check out these things I got as FWD emails lately:

Some old timey adds

And then some real transcriptions from customer service call centers - go ahead laugh your butt off I did

Customer: "I've been ringing 0800 2100 for two days and can't get through to enquiries, can you help?".
Operator: "Where did you get that number from, sir?".
Customer: "It was on the door to the Travel Centre".
Operator: "Sir, they are our opening hours".

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Samsung Electronics

Caller: "Can you give me the telephone number for Jack?"
Operator: "I'm sorry, sir, I don't understand who you are talking about".
Caller: "On page 1, section 5, of the user guide it clearly states that I need to unplug the fax machine from the AC wall socket and telephone Jack before cleaning. Now, can you give me the number for Jack?"
Operator: "I think you mean the telephone point on the wall".

----------------------------------------------------------------------

RAC Motoring Services

Caller: "Does your European Breakdown Policy cover me when I am travelling in
Australia ?"
Operator: " Doesn't the product name give you a clue?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Caller (enquiring about legal requirements while travelling in
France ):
"If I register my car in
France , do I have to change the steering wheel to the other side of the car?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Directory Enquiries

Caller: "I'd like the number of the Argoed Fish Bar in
Cardiff please".
Operator: "I'm sorry, there's no listing. Is the spelling correct?"
Caller: "Well, it used to be called the Bargoed Fish Bar but the 'B' fell off".

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then there was the caller who asked for a knitwear company in Woven.

Operator: "Woven? Are you sure?"
Caller: "Yes. That's what it says on the label; Woven in
Scotland".
----------------------------------------------------------------------

On another occasion, a man making heavy breathing sounds from a phone box told a worried operator:

"I haven't got a pen, so I'm steaming up the window to write the number on".

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tech Support: "I need you to right-click on the Open Desktop".
Customer: "OK".
Tech Support: "Did you get a pop-up menu?".
Customer: "No".
Tech Support: "OK. Right-Click again. Do you see a pop-up menu?"
Customer: "No".
Tech Support: "OK, sir. Can you tell me what you have done up until this point?".

Customer: "Sure. You told me to write 'click' and I wrote 'click'".

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tech Support: "OK. In the bottom left hand side of the screen, can you see the 'OK' button displayed?"
Customer: "Wow. How can you see my screen from there?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Caller: "I deleted a file from my PC last week and I have just realised that I need it. If I turn my system clock back two weeks will I have my file back again?".

----------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
There's always one. This has got to be one of the funniest things in a long time. I think this guy should have been promoted, not fired. This is a true story from the Word Perfect Helpline, which was transcribed from a recording monitoring the customer care department. Needless to say the Help Desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currently suing the Word Perfect organization for "Termination without Cause".
Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee. (Now I know why they record these conversations!):

Operator: "Ridge Hall, computer assistance; may I help you?"
Caller: "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect."
Operator: "What sort of trouble??"
Caller: "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away."
Operator: "Went away?"
Caller: "They disappeared."
Operator: "Hmm So what does your screen look like now?"
Caller: "Nothing."
Operator: "Nothing??"
Caller: "It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type."
Operator: "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out??"
Caller: "How do I tell?"
Operator: "Can you see the C: prompt on the screen??"
Caller: "What's a sea-prompt?"
Operator: "Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?"
Caller: "There isn't any cursor: I told you, it won't accept anything I type."
Operator: "Does your monitor have a power indicator??"
Caller: "What's a monitor?"
Operator: "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on??"
Caller: "I don't know."
Operator: "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that??"
Caller: "Yes, I think so."
Operator: "Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall.
Caller: "Yes, it is."
Operator: "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one??"
Caller: "No."
Operator: "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable."
Caller: "Okay, here it is."
Operator: "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer."
Caller: "I can't reach."
Operator: "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is??"

Caller: "No."
Operator: "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over??"
Caller: "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle - it's because it's dark."
Operator: "Dark??"
Caller: "Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window.
" Operator: "Well, turn on the office light then."
Caller: "I can't."
Operator: "No? Why not??"
Caller: "Because there's a power failure."
Operator: "A power......... A power failure? Aha, Okay, we've got it licked now.
Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in??"
Caller: "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet."
Operator: "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from."
Caller: "Really? Is it that bad?"
Operator: "Yes, I'm afraid it is."
Caller: "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them??"
Operator: "Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer!!!!!"

As requested here is a vegetarian dish. This was actually my dinner tonight. The cooks had screwed up one of my orders, the table wanted Fettucini al Fredo but Angel Hair pasta instead of Fettucini. After telling the cooks to make it again and with the right pasta, I had asked if they could save it for my dinner and they did. I did have them add some carrots and broccoli to it. It was so yummy. Today was a pretty crappy day, I can't even write about it.

My mom is driving me nuts too. She came yesterday for her INS appointment tomorrow. So far all she has done is bitch and complain and tells me how everything is better in Florida. GRRRRRRR. Anyhow I have to go look for more matches for that family so just a short post today.
