My Scottish friend and her Family where having dinner at the German Restaurant and both Grumpy and I were able to make it. It was nice to be able to hang with friends and have yummy food.
My little buddy had to knock on the window of my office on a few days making sure I stay awake.
and of course Sassy had to butt in to be sure she didn't miss anything. So much for nap time. 
... that time on weekends goes faster???? I didn't have to go into the restaurant so I figured I'd have sooooo much time. Bull here it is Sunday afternoon and I haven't done laundry, cleaned, homework ....
I even tried some Fried Bread made by the Dakota
Once I got home I got a mirgrane and didn't get anything else done. Today I set out to make the Maultaschen I will post the entire recipe over at BWC but here are the pictures
The filling is spinach, spices and ground beef/chicken. I ran it through the mixer to make it smooth (I love my magic bullet)
I don't have cutters so this had to do
When I was finished I noticed I had so much filling left. 
But I ran out of time so I consulted with Sassy my trusted helper 
and we decided that we should make them into meatballs with the left over ground chicken and beef. 
Here are the finished Maultaschen. You can serve them in the broth or cut them in stripes and fry them. 
So I got to run to meet the Au pairs at the beach. I will send the recipe to BWC later.I do have to say now that I am no longer working all weekend I do look forward to them. I am actually off alllll weekend. Well kinda. See one of the guys asked if I could work for him tonight and he'd take my Saturday shift. I do have stuff to do this weekend. Tomorrow its first of the the gym then I want to go check out this American Indian Festival after that I have to go visit one of my families who just got an au pair. Then I was going to make some of these -Maultaschen- 
They are kind of like a German ravioli you eat them in broth like in the picture or cut them and fry them with egg and onions. Sunday is the au pair meeting - all about playground and water safety. The weather is supposed to be nice and pleasant in the 80's all weekend so I am hoping to get a chance to take the pups out for a walk. They have this new city center with a cool fountain and a coffee shop that has a water bowl for doggies that we need to go exploring.
OMG its been forever since my last post. These days I just can't seem to get my butt to sit down and type. So lets see whats been going on. Well sadly I lost another friend to cancer last week. This one to lung cancer - her funeral is tomorrow. That was the sad part of my week.
As for the weekend it was okay. Had to deal with a little AP drama but nothing unexpected. Friday I was at the restaurant till late but made a ton of cash so that was good. Saturday I left the restaurant in time to go by the German Restaurant where I used to work to visit. I had called to the if the cook was still there - the son now one of the owners answered and while the cook was gone he said to come on over. So I stopped by there had some Kartoffelkloesse, Spaetzle and gravy and also go my favorite soup which the cook had saved for me. Sunday after the AP stuff I finally got my computers back. Turns out my router was bad which was one of the problems. One of the guys that used to work with me at the German place came over to set everything up so I could function again. He took my other laptop with him to see if there is anything he can do to save it as my two older ones will not last forever and their operating systems are over the hill (ME and 2000). Monday I spend in my PJ's goofing off oh what fun. Yesterday it was back in the office and then work last night.
I found out today that I am going to Boston for a meeting next week so that should be interesting. The hotel looks comfy. Well its off to do AP stuff. I will try to take some puppy pics later.

Killer rants

So its been a while that I have posted some food porn and since Ms Jin keeps teasing me with my favorite - Raspberries I thought I tease back with some deliciouse Italian food. Above is my dinner Penne pasta with Broccoli, red peppers, onions, capers in a cream sauce. With a vodka/cranberry/OJ drink.
I went to one of my favorite stores yesterday - The Worldmarket. They have lots of goodies from Germany and plenty organic and vegetarian stuff. Yummy. I got candy and german pickles and stuff. I stopped by Harris Teeter and got some groceries including some Godiva Chocolate Truffels with Raspberries and Raspberry sorbet (which I am eating right now)
The restaurant was crazy today. The art center close by and had an event so we were busy as hell with people bitching that the food is taking to long. I got lucky and at least none of my tables took it out on my tip. After my second to last table (4 people) left I went over to check my tip. Imagine my shock when there was the pad and the pen but no credit card slip. Fuck that means no tip. So I am thinking they took both copies but I checked with one of the busboys. He asks the other dude and then tells me that guy cleaned of a table and threw it out thinking it was trash. So now I am pissed as hell. When I tell the owner later he goes and comes back saying no that wasn't it WTF!?!!?! I told him that thats not what that dude told the other busser and walked away. So while I was eating my dinner our boss was doing the register and amazingly there was another waitress that was missing a credit card slip!!!!!!! Now in a year and a half that I worked there I have never lost a credit card slip nor have I heard of anyone else doing it and then there are 2 in the same night. Kinda odd right???????

So I think I will fill my bathtub with cold water and pretend it is a pool. Damn it is hot.
The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful. Grumpy got me in trouble at my meeting. He was feeling frisky and sent me a text message that was meant to make me squirm but made me laugh. I got back yesterday afternoon and after picking up some german food (dumplings, spaetzle, brussel sprouts and gravy) I went home. Grumpy greeted me very happily (I had been gone since Wednesday morning). The pups and kitties were just as excited. After some "extra curricula activities" I started on my homework. I had to do a simulation about health care operation management and then write a paper about it. It was getting late and I just wanted to be done so I just typed away. I was finished about 1am and started to close some of the word docs I did not need anymore when I inadvertently closed my paper without saving it. I could have screamed, I was so mad at myself. The paper was due at midnight, so I had to do it all over again. By the time I got to bed it was after 3pm. Grumpy woke me a little after 7 am but had a hard time to get me and Cleo out of bed. You can imagine I am just a bit sleepy, I just got back from Starbucks with my Venti Double Chocolate Chip frappuchino with 3 shots of esspresso. The picture showes my car thermometer today. It was 150F when I got in. The car was parked in the shade with the windows open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is ridiculous we should be given off due to the heat. I remember growing up (no A/C anywhere in Germany) We'd get to go home at 9 or10 am when it got into the 90's. We'd go home grab our pool bag and head to the big pool (there was only one outdoor pool for my town). We'd hang all day in the pool and and then walk home after closing. Those where the good times, I miss being a kid but more than that I miss being home.
