saved $20

Well I had to pay. The judge did take down the number of miles I was over so less points and it reduced my fine by $20. I got there around 10:20 nervous as hell. I didn't get called till an hour later. I saw one of my former host moms she was there with a client. I did watch the judge sent some snob to jail. He and his P.aris H.ilton wannabe fiance were telling him that she was driving but felt nauseous and so he had to drive despite his suspended license. He got 10 days in jail and she was giving a marvelous PH impression with crocodile tears and all. So I plan not to ever go back there so its only speed limit from here on out!

Sorry you got the ticket, but glad you saved $20.

I do enjoy hearing about how other jurisdictions handle their traffic offenses. You'd have be, like, drunk and run over a bus full of nuns to get sent to jail for driving on a suspended license here in beautiful Cook County, IL. You generally have to pick up at least 3 or 4 drunk driving arrests before you do any jail time, and with suspended licenses (unless it's suspended for DUI) you can get arrested almost indefinitely without ever being locked up.

Bubs - thats interesting here you get mandatory jail time even on the first offense. Here is a press release with some of the VA laws

Yeah it's quite strict over here too which I think is a good thing. If you do the crime then you should expect to do the time too :P

What speed were you doing anyway? Over here they let you off with 10% above each limit - 30mph ... if you do 33mph you're ok but 34mph is not.

KC - they said I did 63 in a 50 but the judge reduced it to 59 in 50

Holy shit. Around here you've usually got to go around 15 mph over the limit (i.e. 50mph in a 35mph zone) to even get pulled over in the first place.

Well, glad you got it reduced, but too bad you had to pay anything. :-P That sucks.
