F.B.I. agents, hand.cuffs and a D.A.

You know the saying truth is stranger than fiction well it could be easily todays post title.

I have worked for 20+ days straight with having only had one off because I was to sick to go in. The weekend was hell. I worked Friday night at the German Restaurant. I decided to wear these shoes that I had bought some time ago with my outfit thinking it would look cute. They seemed comfy enough and it wasn't going to be THAT busy. Well I was wrong it was busy I made a lot of money and got nasty blisters. Saturday the Italian place was closed for a private party and I didn't get home till past midnight - my feet killing me - just to leave again a few hours later to work lunch at the German place.

My mom got here Sunday with her little dog - here is Grumpy with the little rat. So far the only blood lost was that of me when Cleo scratched my boob trying to get away from the little rat. Can't promise that will not change in a day or two with working so much my patients is running low and my mother is pushing the limits. I am to tired to deal with her. The past weekend drove a point home - I may not look like I am 30 (according to my customers) but I feel like I am 60. I had left a msg for my academic councilor asking why I hadn't heard if I graduated - and found out I did. So I applied for a bunch of jobs today.

It seems like not a minute to soon as the Italian place seems to become popular for arrests. Remember this post from a few weeks ago?
Well we were kind of busy and after most had left we all set down at a table to try some new wines. One of the girl's boyfriend is a wine seller and he had brought them in and there we were, Ronnie the girl and her boyfriend, my Scottish friend on my right. On my right one of the customers that comes in a lot and is friends with the owner sat down coming to eat and have some wine. All of a sudden 4 plain clothed guys walked in, grab the guy on my left make him get up cuff him on the way out and march onto the parking lot. We all sat there like WTH just happened??????????????? They didn't they who they were or why they took him. One of the tables left was 4 guys - 2 of them teens. The older (Dad) said we need to call the cops and when outside. He walked up to where they where with two cars and so are his "sons" at this point I go out too. The older son is on the phone calling the cops when one of the plain clothed guys gets in his face screaming he is FBI and he doesn't have to tell them Jack. Turns out the older customer is the District Attorney!!!!!!! Then he and his son start arguing with these Feds.
Eventually the Feds drove of with their prisoner and all of us went back inside guessing what the hell happened. Apparently the dude has been a Federal Fugitive for sometime. One of the waiters said one of the Feds came in minutes before all this asking for a take out menu so we are assuming he was scoping the place out. I work again tomorrow night so I'll see if I find out anything else - they forgot to grab his phones and left his car so maybe someone will be back and we get some more info.

But what are the odds that the guy sitting next to me on the table while I am waiting on my dinner is a federal fugitive and that the table next to us with being one of the few customers left - is a District Attorney - as I said Fiction is stranger than the truth

Dinner entertainment?!?!

What a day -

The day started good enough Grumpy had off last night so we actually woke up together - with his mind on recreational activities. To be rudely interrupted by me seeing yet another flea on Cleo. For some reason she got fleas and neither her monthly stuff nor the spray has been successful. Anyhow it took some apologizing to Grumpy for my unromantic behavior to get back on schedule.

So after breakfast I headed to work just to realize halfway down the road when I realized that I forgot my phone - crap it was to late to turn around. Once at work I had an email from one of my families - the AP wants to leave. After a call to the lady and trying to schedule the final meeting - I had patients and a monitor. We had a patient that was on a stretcher - poor lady she had two huge bedsores and dementia and was screaming - bone chilling screams as if we were trying to kill her. Tell you what I do not want to ever be that way someone please shoot me if I get to that point. It was 4pm before I knew it and off home to get changed here is Grumpy trying to hold off the puppies from slobbering all over my white tux shirt.

Tuesday night one of the waiters had asked me if he could have my Wednesday and I gave it to him after I said the pharma party that was scheduled for today would be mine - so I did work that party - a dinner talk by a doctor who I had (mistakenly) talked to earlier this week at my other job. While the dinner was winning down - they were out in the patio - a car was pulled over into the side street right infront of the patio - first there were 2 cop cars then there were 5 with bullet proof vests and all. (this was 6 feet away from the patio windows) Then the drug sniffing dogs come after the two people in the car were put in cuffs on the side walk. The party I was working was totally captivated. After throughly searching the car the two people were released and the cops left. So I am guessing they did not find what they were looking for. The drug reps told me in the end that they loved my service and will request me next time. Yay me.

I hate this

I am so sick of being broke. I work three jobs and still there is never enough. So I told Grumpy last night that I am going to see if I can have a few shifts at the German Restaurant - where I worked for 6 years before the owners kids took it over. That is another story in its self and not for this blog. Anyway I know I can't get to many more shifts at the Italian restaurant so I figured if I can get a couple of shifts there I could get some extra money. I am seriously starting to panic with the Euro going up that we wont have enough money for our bills and our trip. House taxes are coming up in addition to our normal bills as are car taxes and so forth and I can't keep money in the savings account. I figured working a couple shifts at the German place will give us like $300+ a month that is if they take me back. I mean it would be in their best interest from what I can see since I used to do everything there - cooking, bar tending and waiting tables so they can utilize my skills where ever they need too. But then there is the IF factor I am supposed to go over the one of the kids houses Saturday for Craft Club so I figured I go by earlier and see what my chances are. To bad I got to fat for my Dirndl but I guess I cross that bridge when I get to it.

In the mean time I am still waiting to find out if I am officially done with school. I filled out the application for my degree 2 weeks ago but haven't heard anything back - nothing saying I need some other classes nor if I am done. I am kind of holding off on applying for jobs until I am sure I am done.
I did ask my doctor if he has heard anymore about the deal with the hospital. I can't remember if I blogged about this - Couple of weeks ago my doc approached me asking if I had accepted a position yet - I told him no - and he told me that one of the local hospitals is trying to go into research but hasn't had much luck so they approached him asking if he would oversee if - lending them his name. He told them he would consider it but they would need a coordinator that knows the business and he wants me to do it. He said he wants the deal to include me with a substantial pay raise and better benefits. So I hadn't heard anything which is way I asked him this week. He said he'd put pressure on them to come to a conclusion and mentioned again that the success of the deal would lie with me coming on board. At this point all of this will come down to the numbers I'd love to be a monitor but if the hospital deal is better I will do that. I mean I can always be a monitor later. Of course if they drag their feet - I can't afford to wait as soon as I have my diploma my resume goes out to all the research organizations I can think off.

now back to our scheduled program

Sorry I know it seemed like I was absent .... but I was just very tired and busy. My little buddy had to knock on the window of my office on a few days making sure I stay awake.

Last week was super busy. Monday I worked at the office from 8am until after 10pm trying to get caught up and in shape for the monitoring visit for two of my studies the next day. Grumpy even came by and brought me my dinner (M&M McFlurry) and stayed to help with some of the stuff.

Tuesday I had three Monitors in the office and the rest of the girls were taking bets on when I was going to blow. Normally just one comes and he is the new definition of Stupid. I can't stand him he is a total idiot but thinks he is "the cats meow". The other guy was even worse but at least the lady seemed to have some sense in her. All in all I was proud of myself as I did not snap even once.
After leaving the office I was off to work at the restaurant. We were super busy and I didn't get home till elevenish.

I can't remember what I did Wednesday besides that I didn't work at night and had to finish my paper that was due the Monday before.

Thursday I left the office early trying to get rid of my overtime and get a nap before I had to head to the restaurant. However, as you can see by the pictures the pups had other plans for me.
Here is Mac and of course Sassy had to butt in to be sure she didn't miss anything. So much for nap time.
I had worked 4 shifts this week and Saturday was the earliest that I got home (about 11pm!) We had been busy all week and I loved it since I made decent money. I did have a few quirky customers but nothing out right annoying so that was good.

Sunday was busy too I had the AP meeting at the police station where the girls had fun being in handcuffs. After that Grumpy and I met his mom and her husband at the German Restaurant for dinner. It was yummy especially the plum cake. Not as good as the one that the previous owners made but still good.

Today has been pretty uneventful. I only had one patient, lunch was Thai as it has been a lot lately. I just love the new place that opened around the corner they have the best Pad Kee Mow and their tofu is so yummy.

I did get a rather interesting phone call. One of the other ID specialists called wanting to talk to me about a patients lab and see if she qualifies for one of my studies. A doctor calling me is strange enough but okay so as we are reviewing the patients labs it turns out she wont work so then he asks me what medication to put her on! I told him my guesses but since I don't have her chart I don't know if those would work. It was pretty cool he agreed with me and thanked me for my time.

Well I better head home so I can finish homework and spend some quality time with Grumpy.

The nerve

Arg some people should not be allowed in public! When I walked in the restaurant today our daytime manager told me I had a table of 15 on the patio at 5:45 and if things didn't pick up - could go since - am still feeling like crap thanks to a n infected wisdom tooth that won't be pulled till tuesday. So first they argue about the way the party was set up. +hen two more people show up which they need to have at the table. All this is done loudly to the point that the 3 other tables walked out. The other girl that was working out there with me lost them because they were in her station. They continue to be loud and obnoxius. Initially they wanted seperate checks then halfway through dinner a guy said no put it all on one and split it in half, okay no problem after serving them the cake they brought I added the ticket just to be told but oh no we are not paying for their drinks! WTF anyway they were there for over 3 hours and chased every table from the patio and didn't even appologize! Horrible people and it was just 2 that were causing all that trouble. Well at least I am off for 2 days.

Sundayssssssssssssss

Well my weekend was pretty good. I was off Friday night and after hitting the gym I went and got my mom a present for $2 (after all the rebates) She'll love it I am sure especially considering how it will be delivered. Saturday I took it easy after the gym until I had to head to the restaurant. There I got a nice surprise. R. had gotten laser surgery so our day time manager was in and she is good about sitting tables so I managed to make decent money despite it not being that busy. Today was nice since Grumpy and I were both off. He was beat and slept till noon so I had made a nice big breakfast for us. I even baked him the cake I was going to make for his birthday in June. Here is what the muds were doing while Grumpy and i were on cleaning and cooking duty.

Mac on her new favorite spot. Sassy cooling off Misty on the dining room table (yes it needs cleaning) Cleo relaxing on Mac's crate

Why is it ...

... that when I am broke the restaurant is dead? I have only gotten 2 shifts a week lately which is okay as long as I make money on those days. Last week I was sent home one day because it was dead so I only had one day I worked. The problem was that I made only about $50 in credit card tips so my paycheck this week was only $35. So I was really hoping I'd make some money last night. There were 4 of us scheduled but with only one reservation I told R. we needed to sent someone home. He agreed and one of the others went home (as I did the week before). I still didn't get ONE fucking table. We were dead. One table I tried to sit in my section refused. Then nothing until after 7 and that one was a mom with 2 little kids. At that point I had said I was leaving at 7:30pm so I wasn't gonna take a table be stuck and maybe get $5 of it. I did get tips from 2 take out orders I took so I made $9 and got dinner.
Now normally that wouldn't be to bad but I am pretty broke right now and Grumpy is quitting the bar. It doesn't help that I only got one shift next week and maybe one the week after. I HATE BEING BROKE!!! I am however glad that Grumpy is leaving the bar. Things keep getting worse over there. Couple of weeks ago that shooting and then last Friday they had a big fight. He had some bruises to show for and he came in on the end. He was checking the parking lot when he noticed the blinds being messed up on one of the big windows and then the window chattered. So he went inside after calling the cops to take down the guys and holding them there till the boys in blue came around. He didn't even realize he got hit till I pointed out the bruises!

Anyway I am hoping tomorrow will be busy so I can make some money and have a paycheck on Tuesday!
Oh check out these things I got as FWD emails lately:

Some old timey adds

And then some real transcriptions from customer service call centers - go ahead laugh your butt off I did

Customer: "I've been ringing 0800 2100 for two days and can't get through to enquiries, can you help?".
Operator: "Where did you get that number from, sir?".
Customer: "It was on the door to the Travel Centre".
Operator: "Sir, they are our opening hours".

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Samsung Electronics

Caller: "Can you give me the telephone number for Jack?"
Operator: "I'm sorry, sir, I don't understand who you are talking about".
Caller: "On page 1, section 5, of the user guide it clearly states that I need to unplug the fax machine from the AC wall socket and telephone Jack before cleaning. Now, can you give me the number for Jack?"
Operator: "I think you mean the telephone point on the wall".

----------------------------------------------------------------------

RAC Motoring Services

Caller: "Does your European Breakdown Policy cover me when I am travelling in
Australia ?"
Operator: " Doesn't the product name give you a clue?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Caller (enquiring about legal requirements while travelling in
France ):
"If I register my car in
France , do I have to change the steering wheel to the other side of the car?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Directory Enquiries

Caller: "I'd like the number of the Argoed Fish Bar in
Cardiff please".
Operator: "I'm sorry, there's no listing. Is the spelling correct?"
Caller: "Well, it used to be called the Bargoed Fish Bar but the 'B' fell off".

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then there was the caller who asked for a knitwear company in Woven.

Operator: "Woven? Are you sure?"
Caller: "Yes. That's what it says on the label; Woven in
Scotland".
----------------------------------------------------------------------

On another occasion, a man making heavy breathing sounds from a phone box told a worried operator:

"I haven't got a pen, so I'm steaming up the window to write the number on".

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tech Support: "I need you to right-click on the Open Desktop".
Customer: "OK".
Tech Support: "Did you get a pop-up menu?".
Customer: "No".
Tech Support: "OK. Right-Click again. Do you see a pop-up menu?"
Customer: "No".
Tech Support: "OK, sir. Can you tell me what you have done up until this point?".

Customer: "Sure. You told me to write 'click' and I wrote 'click'".

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tech Support: "OK. In the bottom left hand side of the screen, can you see the 'OK' button displayed?"
Customer: "Wow. How can you see my screen from there?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Caller: "I deleted a file from my PC last week and I have just realised that I need it. If I turn my system clock back two weeks will I have my file back again?".

----------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
There's always one. This has got to be one of the funniest things in a long time. I think this guy should have been promoted, not fired. This is a true story from the Word Perfect Helpline, which was transcribed from a recording monitoring the customer care department. Needless to say the Help Desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currently suing the Word Perfect organization for "Termination without Cause".
Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee. (Now I know why they record these conversations!):

Operator: "Ridge Hall, computer assistance; may I help you?"
Caller: "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect."
Operator: "What sort of trouble??"
Caller: "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away."
Operator: "Went away?"
Caller: "They disappeared."
Operator: "Hmm So what does your screen look like now?"
Caller: "Nothing."
Operator: "Nothing??"
Caller: "It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type."
Operator: "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out??"
Caller: "How do I tell?"
Operator: "Can you see the C: prompt on the screen??"
Caller: "What's a sea-prompt?"
Operator: "Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?"
Caller: "There isn't any cursor: I told you, it won't accept anything I type."
Operator: "Does your monitor have a power indicator??"
Caller: "What's a monitor?"
Operator: "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on??"
Caller: "I don't know."
Operator: "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that??"
Caller: "Yes, I think so."
Operator: "Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall.
Caller: "Yes, it is."
Operator: "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one??"
Caller: "No."
Operator: "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable."
Caller: "Okay, here it is."
Operator: "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer."
Caller: "I can't reach."
Operator: "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is??"

Caller: "No."
Operator: "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over??"
Caller: "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle - it's because it's dark."
Operator: "Dark??"
Caller: "Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window.
" Operator: "Well, turn on the office light then."
Caller: "I can't."
Operator: "No? Why not??"
Caller: "Because there's a power failure."
Operator: "A power......... A power failure? Aha, Okay, we've got it licked now.
Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in??"
Caller: "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet."
Operator: "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from."
Caller: "Really? Is it that bad?"
Operator: "Yes, I'm afraid it is."
Caller: "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them??"
Operator: "Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer!!!!!"

Wish me luck

sorry for not having posted awhile.

I was going to write Friday but I was still to annoyed. See some time ago a friend of mine said she'd give us tickets to her cousins show. Which I thought would be cool but by no chance ever thought to ask for. Anyhow she had said she asked for 20 tickets and it shouldn't be a problem. Well as the concert date came closer I asked her about it and she said the is still waiting to hear. Thats cool. But then I talked to her the week of the concert and found out she had gotten the 20 tickets but is waiting to get more. So for whatever reason she gave our tickets to someone else. Well long story short she never got any (more)for us and we did not go. The thing is I would have never expected tickets or asked for them. I mean I think her cousin has a lot of talent but frankly its not our type of music so it never occurred to me. It just annoyed me that she would invite us and then give the tickets to someone else.

Anyway Saturday was okay I had crappy tippers but what else it new.

Sunday Grumpy and I were both off which is a rare occasion so we decided to head to the Omni Hotel near by for brunch. Grumpy used to cook for them and has been telling me about it for years but one of us usually worked so we could never make it. So we slept in and then headed there. While the hostess is seating us someone calls both of our names. I see this short lady walking up to us that looks vaguely familiar and turn to him to ask who it is. When I turned back she is in front of me hugging me and I read her name tag - its Grumpy's old girlfriend. (she claims I stole him from her the truth is when I was still married and we were just friends I used to spend ours defending her and sending him back to her! Crap so the hostess sits us in her section. So we just look at each other like "great". Well aside from that Brunch was good. I had two Mimosas and lots of food. She did do a good job and I do not think she put something in our food. She also let us use a buy one get one free coupon so we paid 20 vs 40. Very nice indeed. The rest of the day was spent doing homework for me and Grumpy went to go by a new microwave and detailing the truck. Later on we had a pretty bad storm and we noticed water dripping from the ceiling. After some investigation we came to the conclusion that the water must have come down to hard for the gutter to handle so now we need to find out where it comes in and how to patch it up.

as for the title of this post. I got an email Friday from someone whom I worked with for years on G.S. K trials. Anyhow it was an empty email just the subject saying G.S. K is looking for C.R.A in your area apply on the website. I couldn't find it Friday and emailed her back. So she emailed me what to look for and I just sent of my application. It would be so awesome if it worked out but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Sorry my cell cam is not that great and Sassy photographs hard.

Tomorrow Grumpy and I will go see Transformers - yeahh date night well sort of

Miss Manners

Man what a f*****g waste of a weekend. I made less money today than yesterday and most of my tables needed as serious lesson in table manners and how to behave in public. I had my usual section and had enough tables but they were even worst tippers than yesterday. One chick even stiffed me! Then there was this dude who literally shoveled the food into his mouth. It was disgusting. I mean he grabed the fork like its a shovel and didn't even use the spoon to roll up the linguine. It was so disgusting to see. I don't know more weekends like this ....

Anyway maybe if I get lucky Grumpy and I will make it to the beach tomorrow with the pups even if its just for a little bit. The poor guy has been working all day today and wont be home till 2am just to go back to the store at 6am.

Well got to finish homework and then get some sleep - oh I am off all next weekend!!!!!! One of the guys asked to switch with me so I am working Friday and am off Saturday. I have the AP meeting Sunday but that should be fun

better you than me

So I love waitressing and don't care if its a big party (20+people) or just a bunch of small tables. But every so often I hope that I don't have to work a certain party. Last night we had one of those. It was a Army retirement dinner thing and was to be 48 people. They had preordered the food and were given an estimate of how much the dinner was going to be and they would all pay separate!!! When I saw the reservation in the book Tuesday all I could do is hope I wasn't having to work it.

Thankfully when I got in Thursday I was able to name my section and with that was not having to deal with them. God they were awefull. I mean I resent military parties as a general thing because they are rude and they run you to death while tipping you lousy. This one was no worse they fricken followed us around trying to get their drink order in. Dude if you just sit in your fucking chair we'll get the order and guess what we know there the fuck to take it too. They kept standing in the walk way right through out my section while I was trying to get to my tables. I ended up having to help out a little bit. They were so loud we had to close the door to the patio. Then while we were still serving food the first came out trying to get their checks WTF. Then one of the morons decided to yell across the restaurant HEY SERGEANT MAJOR again WTF. So as I try to deal with my tables I had to tell the same group of guys to move out of my way (while I was carrying hot plates!) they just didn't get it.

I am sorry but there is not enough money in the world for me to want to work those type of parties. Sorry no military parties in my future if I can help that. I made close to the same amount than the girls working that party but didn't have to work half as hard for it.

Happy Fourth

Well it looks like weather wise today will be great. Not that I am planning on doing anything beyond reading and finishing my paper.

Work last night was pretty good I got home before 10 and made good money. I had a six-top that left me $20 in addition to the $29 which were automatically added in. I like working days during the week. Since there are only 3 of us your more likely to make money than on weekend where there are 6. Dinner was Penne ala vodka mhhh so yummy I hadn't had it in months and lately I have been leaving early which means no dinner so it was even better.

This is gonna be a great week since I am off today and I took of Friday. I have my annual eye exam and since I am usually blind after those stupid drops so I figured I may as well play hookie for the rest of the day.

well let me get to my homework. Maybe Grumpy gets off on time so we can go catch a movie.

nothin much

Haven't had much to say.

After dinner we saw Ocean thirteen. It wasn't as good as Eleven but much better than Twelve. While our dinner view was lovely the rest of the dinner left much to desire. Our Ice tea was fermented, the appetizers left much to be desired, Grumpys dinner was cold and mine was just icky. So we'll redo it this Wednesday. This time we are going to this place one of the other girls works in. Its supposed to be really good. Then we are going to see the Silver Surfer.
Anyway between homeowrk and work haven't had much time the last few days. Somehow I managed to hurt my back so waiting tables was painful. I still made good money even while trying not to work much. That's what I love about our restaurant. Right now I am enjoying my day off. I had lunch at my favorite indian restaurant with my Scottish friend. I spend the am yesterday cleaning the bedroom and I tell you I was horrofied. I mean I knew it was bad but yuck!!!!!!!!! Today is laundry day. Here are some photos of the spoiled kitties and the newest bunny picture.

Cleo and Grumpy - check out the look she gives me Here is Misty in her newest hidaway. We put a little stuffed pig in there for her to be more cozy. And last not least the newest bunny picture. The front yard looks so empty now with the big oak tree and the spruce gone. I can't wait for Grumpy to plant some new stuff.

bye bye - its been fun

What a weekend. Man first that crap with Boston and trying to get home - I just want to point out this is two out of two for Boston and if at all possible I will avoid number 3. The first time was a few years back, I went up for some training for the AP stuff. I got in late, there was no place to get food, then the fire alarm in the hotel was set off and at 2am all of us where out in the rain then there was no breakfast and to top the trip off my flight home got canceled. I finally got on a flight to DC (it was Grumpys b-day and I was trying to get back). I had no idea on how to go from there. Some lady on the plane heard me and said she could give me a ride to Richmond from where Grumpy picked me up. Everything was fine till her and her finance started talking about mental patients, sicknesses and institutions - then I got a bit scared.
This weekend was quite as dramatic I never did find out about what was going on in Philly and why no flights left from there, I ended up after waiting for 5hs flying into Richmond. From there I got a rental car - it was supposed to be $25 but ended up costing me $68! Then I got on the road and get stuck in friggen traffic!!!!! Then to make my weekend even more a success I get pulled over Saturday while following traffic. I have a squeaky clean driving record so I need to find out what to do.

Work, Saturday night, was okay. I got a party off 11 that where fun to work and I made $116 of them. That helped take the sting out of loosing a big party that was coming in later that night (the 2 that got two work it made nearly $400 each of it!)

Today was my last day at Busch Gardens. It was kind of bitter sweet. I will miss a lot of the people there but I am glad that now I may have my Sundays off. Yahhhhh I get one day off a week - well except for when I have to do AP stuff. Well I may get my house a bit cleaner - maybe.

Am I evil .... Yes I am

So you all know the Metallica song Am I evil right????? The chorus goes like

Am I Evil?
Yes I am
Am I Evil?
I am man, yes I am

So I am sure you are wondering why I am bringing this up. Well because its been bussing in my head since last night.

Not sure if I bitched about some of the new lazy waitresses we have gotten but they suck, their work ethic sucks ... . Anyhow I was working with one of them last night. It was me, one of the other waitresses that is good Ms M and Ms Lazy.
Anyhow I got there last (always do since I work till 4 in the office) so Ms M takes me aside and tells me the Ms Lazy had been waiting for her in the parking lot and flagged her down as she was getting out of her car. Ms Lazy said that she heard that I and my scottish friend have been saying that she is not doing her side work. (She was written up for such a thing by the daytime manager last week). Ms M. told her that yes indeed there were problems in the last few weeks with new people not doing their side work and she should always ask someone to be sure she did what she was supposed to. So the night goes on and we are super busy. I ended up asking Ms M if it was indeed Tuesday and not Friday. I made mainly lousy tips except for a lesbian couple that just loves my appletinis and they always tip me very well - Grumpy says its because they like the way I walk. I still walked out with $150 despite the $4 and $8 tips I mainly had.
So the night winds down and I am trying to get my checks for a big table that insisted on paying separate as I overhear Ms Lazy saying she was going to mop the bar and bathroom and stock the beer and wine. Which is okay those where the side works assigned to her station. Well Ms. M comes over and tells me that Ms Lazy had asked her what she should do - to which Ms M replied she needed to ask me because all the side work was to be split between her and me. Ms Lazy shook her head and refused. I mean I didn't care that I had to do the majority of the sidework (clean the bar and bathroom and the patio) because I had tables in those to sections. Granted had I worked with someone else they would have offered to split the work more evenly but ... So while I am still cleaning and helping the poor busboy resetting the tables Ms Lazy sits down to eat and then left. I hear Ms M ask the owner why he let her leave - her section wasn't set up. I ask Ms M if the bathroom floor was clean (I knew it wasn't because I had just been there to clean) - and she said no it wasn't. So I ended up mopping that too - with a smile.

Now she was being just an idiot - knowing that someone was on her case and not doing her shit anyways - but you still don't know why I am evil right?
Remember how I said in this post (#8) that when crossed I can border on evil. Well she crossed me and here is what makes me evil - she did make however make it very easy.

When I cleaned the bathrooms I made sure that one of the pieces of paper she didn't clean up were right there to be seen. And then made sure Ms M went in under the eyes of the owner to find that in deed she did not clean it. After sweeping and moping the bathrooms I showed the "findings" to the owner to make my point. I also went to get lunch from the restaurant today where I mentioned to our daytime manager the happenings of last night and to please not schedule us together as she is clearly not capable of working together which is essential especially when we are that busy. I also told her she left it to us, the owner and his wife to set up the tables and ensure the busboy is not there till midnight! Well I am pretty sure this chicks days are numbered but seriously she made it way to easy on me. I mean you don't go around accusing me of being unfair to you, then refuse to help out in the clean up and get away with it. If someone accuses me not of doing something I'd make sure to get it done the next time but no not this chick- I am back on the schedule with her on Saturday so it should be interesting if she is still even around then.

Karma?

Okay so I believe you do to others as you'd like them to you. Last night I had a table that used a coupon card. With those cards we always add the tip (18%) which I did. They had given me cash and I returned the change to them and they got up to leave. When I went to the table to I noticed they had left me $25 . I noticed they were still in the parking lot so I went outside and told them while I appreciated the extra tip I didn't think they realized that an 18% tip had already been added because they used a coupon. The guy thanked me and gave me $5 for my honesty and went on. I believe it was the right thing to do. I mean yeah I could have had 20 extra bucks and if they had not been in the parking lot I would not have felt bad about it but they were so I did the honorable thing. Anyhow most to the staff said I was being a idiot and should have just taken the extra money. What do you think?

Right now I am hoping for the rain to stop. I have the host family conference this afternoon - a picnic in the park. I rented a picnic shelter and so far am out $100 and it doesn't look like the rain is letting off. This sucks because I need at least 10 families to attend to make back the $100. So far only one said they are coming despite the rain.

So busy

OMG its been forever since my last post. These days I just can't seem to get my butt to sit down and type. So lets see whats been going on. Well sadly I lost another friend to cancer last week. This one to lung cancer - her funeral is tomorrow. That was the sad part of my week.

As for the weekend it was okay. Had to deal with a little AP drama but nothing unexpected. Friday I was at the restaurant till late but made a ton of cash so that was good. Saturday I left the restaurant in time to go by the German Restaurant where I used to work to visit. I had called to the if the cook was still there - the son now one of the owners answered and while the cook was gone he said to come on over. So I stopped by there had some Kartoffelkloesse, Spaetzle and gravy and also go my favorite soup which the cook had saved for me. Sunday after the AP stuff I finally got my computers back. Turns out my router was bad which was one of the problems. One of the guys that used to work with me at the German place came over to set everything up so I could function again. He took my other laptop with him to see if there is anything he can do to save it as my two older ones will not last forever and their operating systems are over the hill (ME and 2000). Monday I spend in my PJ's goofing off oh what fun. Yesterday it was back in the office and then work last night.

I found out today that I am going to Boston for a meeting next week so that should be interesting. The hotel looks comfy. Well its off to do AP stuff. I will try to take some puppy pics later.

Blogger Award

So after twisting REAL'S arm I was nominated for a

he actually wrote some really nice things about me. Well I really haven't done much posting with that not requiring you all to think lately.

There are a couple reasons for that.

  1. I am busy.
    1. there is more and new AP drama and I am up to 20 families now
    2. i had to go out of town for work the last two weekends
    3. my current class is a bit more labor intensive then the last
    4. got new studies/patients at work that limit my goof off time
    5. try to spend time with my friend AJ
    6. work 2-4 nights at the restaurant (this week Wed-Saturday / was scheduled for Sunday but have to be at Busch Gardens at noon so gave my shift away
  2. I am tired
    1. well I'd say refer to point one and you know why
    2. haven't been sleeping good lately - can't fall asleep so forth
    3. my last day off was weeks ago and I haven't slept past 7am in a while
    4. just plain worn out
  3. I feel like I have no right to complain
    1. honestly most of my posts are ranting and raving about stuff going on in one of my jobs or private life. But ever since my friend found out she was dying I feel like I have no right to do so. I am relatively healthy - aside the PCOS thing that keeps me from getting pregnant, I have a loving husband and 4 furry little monsters that make me smile, I have jobs I love (well most of the time but you know how that is) and most of all I am not dying!
  4. I am not sure how to put down what I feel
    1. I had given my friend my blog URL so I felt like I shouldn't post about how hard it is on me to watch her die because I didn't want her to feel sorry for me.
    2. I was so scared that she would no make it through the weekend last week while I was in Houston - and then I hear when I call her that she was in the ER with a blood clot. Yesterday I called her and found out one of her lungs collapsed and they took fluid from her lungs and abdomen. When I asked her if I could come over she said NO! I didn't know how to feel about that. She never said no to be coming over before. I don't know if she was just exhausted or if she is mad at me.
    3. I am being selfish for wanting her to be here on earth while I know she'd be better off moving on.
so anyway I will try to be better and go back to my normal postings. Which reminds me the restaurant has this "dine with Miss Virginia" tonight so I am sure there is a story or two in that.

Tagged - best food in the world

Alrighty so Jin insists I do this tag or she will no longer take sweetbox orders from me. Since I am addicted to her goodies I have no choice but to oblige. This tag was started by Nicole Tan. Once you do it be sure to email her so she can add you to the final list

So, here's the rules:
1. Add a direct link to your post below the name of the person who tagged you.
Include the city/state and country you’re in.

Dino aka Katy (Newport News, Virginia, USA)

2. List out your top 5 favorite places to eat at your location.

#1: Its Al Fresco Italian Restaurant and not only because I work there. Their food is amazing and there are lots of dished for me to eat that are not in a marinara or alfredo sauce. They make everything to order so dishes can be adapted to whatever your heart desires.

#2: The Monastery is a czech restaurant that is to die for. The food is a little pricey but well worth it. They make everything from scratch just the way you'd get it in the old world.

#3: Nawab Indian Restaurant. OMG their lunch buffet is simply divine. I don't like going for dinner because I get to only eat one thing.

#4: Das Waldcafe. This is the German Restaurant I used to work in and their food is really good. Its the Bavarian/southern German cuisine but still really really good.

#5: Thai Erwan - while I don't get to eat there as often as I'd like to (mainly because Grumpy is not big on Thai food) they still offer amazing veggie dishes. I just saw there is a Thai place opening near my office and I am planning on testing them throughly for lunch every day well maybe every other day.

3. Tag 5 other people (preferably from other countries/states) and let them know they’ve been tagged.

Weekend

So last week was chaotic as usual. The restaurant has been super busy the last few weeks and I made $100 or more each day I worked. Which is great especially this I am so busy this week that I only have one shift (Saturday) and if by a miracle I do have to got to Miami Friday I have to give that one up too.

So Thursday I get a call from the cook of the German Restaurant where I used to work. She wanted to tell me that she had some German Potato Soup that was left from the day before and also ask if I could talk to a guy. I am like what guy. That's when she put my old boss on the phone who told me apparently there was some guy at the restaurant asking them for help - he is German and wants to stay here. For whatever reason they thought I could help him and asked me to call him. As I am a nice person I did as asked but there is not much I could do in terms of helping him. I advised him to talk to an immigration lawyer and gave him the contact info of a good one and I told him he could always come back and work for Busch Gardens using their international program. Which is only during the season but at least he can work legally for several month while doing that program. We talked a little more about all that when he came by the restaurant Friday night. But again there isn't much I can do for him - he needs to find a job that will sponsor his work visa.

Saturday I had to go and do an exit interview for one of my girls it went pretty quick so afterwards I went by Busch Gardens to get all my free tickets (the poor lady couldn't get over how many I got) then it was home to make pasta salad and head out to a BBQ friends were having. The weather was just gorgeous and I really wished I could have stayed but ... at least were were busy and I made lots of money that night.

Sunday I met my girl friends for lunch at our favorite Indian restaurant. I hadn't seen my English friend in a while and hadn't really talked to her either since the thing with AJ happened her very best friend died a couple of years ago from cancer and all this has opened those wounds for her.

Anyhow after lunch I went and got some essentials for the AP meeting (cookies, chips, water and a volleyball). The meeting was fun. The trainer taught the girls all sorts of ways of getting out of trouble and I got a new toy. Mhh I bet I could do some damage with that if someone is stupid enough to attack me.

After the meeting I handed out the t-shirts that had finally gotten delivered. See now I can find my boy and girls anywhere I go - just look for the blue. Aren't they cute/handsome.
Oh and I figured out how to use the knowledge I gained making the video. I think I will make one for each year - adding all the AP pictures into it and make every AP do a mini interview. I'll put it on google video (not youtube) that way they can download it and burn it on CD's. I think it would be a cool keepsake for the AP's don't you think?

Some of the AP's stayed around to talk to me and one of them it took me about 30min to calm down. She is relatively new to my area - came from a family in NY state. Her new family has 3 "nice" dogs that the kids play with. At one of the play dates she had with another AP at her house (family was okay with that) the little girl visiting was bitten in the face by one of the dogs. She needed 5 stitches. The AP whose house this happened at is so upset that it seems the family is blaming her - making all these new rules including that she can't see/play with other AP's and kids while working. Now I understand why you'd not want to have the kids over to that house but in general thats a bit drastic. I tried to get her to understand the things the family was worrying about and I think I got through to her in some aspects. Fun Fun - talk about a tough first week - seeing the kid you are to take care off on the floor crying and bleeding ...

Tonight I got to finish my simulation paper - I did finish the simulation and wrote it up so its just a matter typing those notes up so they make sense to anyone :). Hopefully I wont take me all night. This week should be fairly relaxed. I had to tell the restaurant I couldn't work Tuesday and Wednesday which resulted in only getting one shift (Saturday) - so I am off most of the week yeahhhhhh.

I also got my employee night tickets to ride. Click on the picture to get pictures and videos from the official site

I got a ticket for all three nights but most likely I will only go once but I can't wait.

See there would be no way in hell I'd ride it this year unless its on employee night where hopefully the lines are going to be much shorter.
