So busy

Everything from me calling a teacher out over telling lies (wonder if I am going to pass that class) to lots of AP drama and the installation of fiber optic TV and internet that wont connect to my little laptop.

But as I still have 3 papers due by tomorrow and one that was due yesterday all I can leave you with is this picture of Misty sunning herself in the window.

High school meme

I got this MEME from Real and since I have not much else to say today ... Check out the photo from my senior class - can you find me??????

1. Who was your best friend?
Daniela and Sylvia but I didn't met Sylvia until Dani and I got to our High school (the german school system is a bit different and not everyone goes to high school) Dani and I were together in Grammar school and then went on to the same gymnasium while some of our classmates went to realschools and vocational schools ...)

2. What sports did you play?
Sports teams in Germany are not tied to schools - but I was in a swim team and was part of a life guard association

3. What kind of car did you drive?
well I had 2 simson bikes my first was a red S51 and I loved it but it was old and kept breaking so I bought this really cool metalic blue one which kept breaking too.

S
o when my mom drove me to the repair shop she saw this brand new red scooter and bought it right then and there and I had that one until I was 18 and got my car divers license and for my birthday I got my blue Trabant.
The trabant used to be built in my hometown before the wall came down and it was out off all the once I have driven since my favorite. Who cares that it only goes 60 miles an hour. You could fix everything on it with duck tape!

4. It's Friday night, where were you?
since the age of 13 I went out every weekend so the chances were I was at the "Erle"

5. Were you a party animal?
ahmmm yeah I was famous for my parties everyone loved coming since there was allways enough booze and food

6. Were you considered a flirt? I don't know I never knew when guys were interested. I guess

7. Ever skip school?
Who me? ahmm gee

13. What was your favorite class?
Swim class in 11 & 12 grade we had to choose 4 different PE semesters I picked swimming, volleyball, judo and tennis. In swim class all I did was goof off since i already knew everything so unless the teacher had me demonstrate stuff I got to just play in my own lane. loved it!

14. What was your school's full name?
Georgengymnasium

15. School mascot?
no such thing

16. Did you go to dances?
what? like school dances now I told you we didn't have those school is there to be learned in nothing more - and yes I may have attended a few back in grammar school when it was still east germany.

17. If you could go back and do it over again, would you?

skipping it to go camping with my friends, my social life was never in school or with school people i had my friends outside school and thats who I hung with (except for Dani and Sylvia but they didn't hang out with me to much since I was kind of wild but they'd come to my parties)

19. Favorite memory of your Senior Year?
field trip to Paris I guess oh and last day of school were we TP's the principals car and spraypainted it.

20. Were you ever posted up on the senior wall?
i doubt I would have if we had one - well maybe next to a condom wrapper since I was the one person everyone would hit up for condoms thanks to me having an unlimited supply at the AIDS foundation.

22. Where did you go most often for lunch?
Grahams Bakery they had the best french baguettes with lettuce and eggsalad. To this day I will not be in my hometown without stopping by there. (my school was in the city so we could walk everywhere in town in no time)

oh hell yeah liked doubled

24. What did you do after graduation?
i didn't go to gratuation remember I was camping and that night drinking with some lifeguards I had met until midnight and then drove 6h to get to my life guard duty station.

25. When did you graduate?
July 1996 don't know the exact date since I wasn't there

26. Where are most of your classmates?
Germany

27. Did you have a high school sweetheart?
no I don't believe in dating people from your school or work. I did see someone be he was part of the clique I hung out with. I loved when he came to pick me up from school in the winter and we rode the bus (public transportation there are no school busses) home together.

28. Have you changed since?
mhh yeah my hair is back to its natural color I work on the weekends instead of going out and so forth. Being a grown up sucks!

29. Have you been to your high school since you graduated?
yes last year for the first time it was my 10th high school reunion. oh but wait it was somewhere else and my school is not a school anymore so I guess the answer is no. (I did walk past it a few times)

So did you find me in the picture above??? No well here lets take a look again click on the photo to enlarge it.

Not motivated

I am so not motivated. I have a paper due tonight and haven't even started - which normally would not be a big deal but since I have to wait tables tonight it is. I tried to get my act together this weekend but just couldn't. I want nice weather if its not snowing then lets have sunshine I don't care how warm/cold it is just stop with the grey clouds its depressing. I hate the class I got now - Economics - yuck I barely managed to get through it the first time.

There is no "I" in team

Okay so I guess asking for an uneventful trip was a bit to much. We landed in Charlotte, NC 15 minutes early I went and got my Caribbean Passion Smoothie from Jamba Juice (love that place that why I fly through Charlotte and not Philly) and strolled over the C concourse to catch my plane when I glanced at the monitors there is was FLIGHT CANCELED WTF. So I went to the nearest counter to see whats up and sure enough my flight was canceled. The next one was in 3 hours - 3 friggen hours while I have yet to go to sleep and I am sooo tired. So I find my new gate (at least I was still in first class!!!) But there is no power outlet so I go across plug myself in and try to get online - NOTHING. WTF I couldn't get on. So I could have gone up the main part but I was to tired. So I popped in Bridget Jones Diary #2 and waited for the flight. Once on the plane things got a little better well it was first class after all. Of course by the time I get to LA there was no car for me since I was hours late. I finally got into my room which I had switched to a double since Rosa was coming. I have an awesome view from the 17th floor all the way to the ocean. I went to check my school work just to notice that the team was super behind so after a quick nap I went to work on it. I stopped to go down for dinner which was okay I met some of the coordinators I have known for years and then took some food up for Rosa. She came around 9 and brought me present s in the form of a cable car filled with Ghirardelli squares (yummy!!!) Well I am off to be d it s past midnight and my meeting starts at 8am.

Here is Rosa eating the dessert I brought along with her dinner.

I am trying to finish my paper on assisted suicide which was actually due last night but Cleo is trying to help me tonight. She is sitting on the desk, actually on my papers that I need to use for the papers. She is pretty persistent and tries to lay on as much paper as possible while watching me type making sure I spell everything correct.

Of Bunnies and house guests

When I pulled in the drive way tonight with an AP in tow to stay with me until I find a new HF for her, there was the Bunny. Well trained by us it stayed in place until I got a picture of it. I will finish this post later as I just got in and I have 2h and 15 min to write a essay about HIPAA.

so sorry

I know its been a while that I posted and I haven't been able to keep up with all my blog reading. Be assured I did glance at some and things will be better starting next weekend. This Sunday is my last day at Busch Gardens for the season so that means I will have a day off again. I am very much looking forward to that. I am regaining my strength [and weight :( ] these days and am almost 100%. Things have been pretty busy around here with school and work. I took of Tuesday from the office to get some rest but with schools and the au pairs and all I really didn't get much of it. Right now I am watching my taped shows and catch up on school work.

I think the other reason I have not posted is that I finally talked to my mother last week. She hadn't spoken to me in several weeks. Supposedly I didn't sent her something (but I did) and now she says I cost her a few hundred dollar. She also says she doesn't want anything to do with me while I am this egotistical person I turned into according to her. Anyhow obviously the conversation didn't go all that well so I was surprised to find a missed call from her the next day. I called her back also to let her know that the office was going to be closed for 5 days over X-mas and to explore the idea of going down to see her in Florida. Her response to that was "why would you?". The conversation when south after that and at some point she mentioned my estranged sister was going to be there for a few months. I haven't talked to my sister in years and my mom only talks to her through email and more to her boyfriend then my sister so I was taken aback at this and made a comment along the lines - well then you don't need me to come-. Well that's when my mom told me to be ashamed of myself, how dare do I say that while my sister is terminal ill. She let me run into the open knife with that one. The thing that makes me wonder is why I don't feel bad about my sister. Now we have been estranged for 12 years now and we never got along which I partly contribute to the fact that she was to old when my mom adopted her from an orphanage (she and her brother were taken away from their parents after those were deemed unfit). So anyhow I guess not feeling sorry for my sister and the why, has been on my mind. Maybe my Mom is right and I am egotistical you decide.

Weekend & Monday

So I just noticed the picture of me getting ready for girls night on Friday never posted. Well just as well the night wasn't all that.
So here is one of me trying to do homework while both kitties are begging for attention.

I was still talking to N., the AP that was staying with me, when my Scottish friend B. called fussing where I was. I had totally lost track of time and she HATES to wait alone. So I quick brushed my hair and ran out the door. We got a little corner table at the restaurant and our server was a buddy of ours . Mind you there are only a few people that we allow to wait on us!. She knows us well enough so B. had her Bacardi and Coke and I had my pitcher of Ice tea and soon there was yummy Garlic bread, cheese and oil. I was starving as I just had soup for lunch in anticipation of dinner. Our English friend P. was late as always. She was in dire need of a drink as she had quit her job and got it back with in 10 min. She was still shaking.
About 5 minutes later the AP (N) staying with me and another one of my German AP's walked in the door. We ended up moving to a big table. The other German AP (D.) told me Mac the Great Dane bit her. My first question to N. was did you let D in the house? Remember we told you do not let strangers in unless we are present. Luckily Mac did not break the skin and she just had a little swelling. But still WTF is there to misunderstand - no strangers in the house!
Anyhow so that pretty much dampened my mood. Dinner was great I had, what the waitress referred to on her ticket as "Katies pasta". [Bowtie pasta with onions, carrots, peas and broccoli in a parmesan cream sauce] Unfortunately B. got drunker by the minute and started arguing with me about au pair rules (in front of my au pairs) and how she thought curfews are wrong and they should get paid more. Obviously I couldn't tell her I agreed with the girls sitting there. I do however think curfews are necessary at least in the beginning until you get to know your au pair better - quite frankly I want my AP to be awake and alert while watching my kids and not sleep deprived and hung over! As for their pay that is set by the state department and considering room and board is included its not all that bad and the program is not meant for them to MAKE money. Anyhow when I finally caught B. alone I told her to cut it out - which she promised to do. Knowing her P. and I were taking bets on how long it would last.
After dinner and dessert (I had the exotic bombe again) we moved out to the patio. I ended up having to save B. from herself when she was going to drive the new waitress home. B was way past the driving stage. I decided as the new girl lives near the house I was calling it a night and head home after I dropped her off.

Saturday was pretty uneventful. I got an email from one of my host families in response to me setting up the two week interview [I have to go over the rules with everyone two weeks after the AP arrives] saying they'd be out of town. WFT I was just there a week ago and told them I'd come that week. We emailed back and forth and the Host father was really pissing me off. He finally agreed to do it on the 23rd at 4pm which mean first of all its going to be almost a week late and I will have to take or work from the office early and won’t be able to wait tables that night!!!! ARGGGGGG.
I finished up homework and worked at the restaurant. It was pretty slow so I didn't make much money. I tried to find out from N when her boyfriend would come and get her tomorrow as I really did not want him in the house without us and we were going to go to Watercountry USA where this month AP meeting was held. She told me she didn't know which quiet frankly pissed me off.

So Sunday morning rolls around and I wake her up as I needed to print of my sign in sheet for the meeting. I ask N. so when does he pick you up? She says he isn't! Excuse me!!!!! Apparently he sent her a text message saying he wasn't going to. So now we had to figure out how to get her to the family which was 3 h away. I ended up having to leave to meet the AP's for the meeting so they could sign in. Grumpy had to stay at the house to help her find a way and make sure someone is there incase the BF was showing up. I was so pissed so I drove to the water park (1h) and got everyone’s signature just to drive back (1h). When I get home the family had said they'd meet her half way and Grumpy and I said for him to driver her vs. waiting for one of her other friends to rent a car and come. We kinda hoped we could make it to the beach with the pups at least. NOPE Grumpy didn't get home till after 6pm. I was so mad. We both had taken the day off to be together and go to the water park. I rarely have a day off and that was mine for the month!!!!!!!! So we ended up just going out for some Mexican and went home.

Monday was just as bad as the weekend. It was the docs first day back so we all knew it was going to be crazy. I had 6 patients of my own to see and had made sure I was ready and prepared. When I got in the office manager said the part time nurse is MIA and if I could help out up front. Fuck I hate working up front. When I came up for some air I asked if anyone had heard from the nurse - no. I reminded the office manager that the docs schedule had changed he was originally coming back Monday and seeing patients Tuesday. Oh she goes, I wonder if he knew. Now I maybe wrong but isn't it the office managers job to ensure her employees know when they should come to work especially as they do not want that nurse in the office unless the doc is here? Anyhow I was exhausted when I left the office and I headed to the restaurant. There we had a huge party to serve, lots of running but they were pretty easy. By the time I got home at 11, I kissed Grumpy goodnight and fell into the bed. I barely got undressed I was so dead.

This weekend

This weekend
Originally uploaded by dino0477.

So there hasn't been any food porn from me in a while so here it is.

The weekend was a nightmare. By Monday morning I had one au pair that wants to go home, one that I have to send home because she works on the side and one that wants to switch families. Gee when it rains it pours. Saturday I had to do a touch base interview with one of the families and ended up watching the host mom artificially inseminate one of their horses while she chatted with me ?!?!?!?!?
The night was pretty quiet at the restaurant I did not make much money but didn't have to work for it either. I was trying to leave early as I finally got in touch with “my” Marines and they wanted me to come down. However my tables sat until after ten so it was to late. I didn't get out till past midnight as I was chatting with the girls.

Sunday sucked. I was dead tired and had to be at Busch Gardens early. It was so slow I was so bored that I started cleaning behind the registers and organized the snowman ornaments by names. I did get a fresh Funnel cake with strawberries and whip cream. I had gone up to Busch Saturday to buy 2 discount tickets for one of my au pairs who had friends coming in. Well I took a survey while I was up there and got 2 comp tickets - which since I get in for free I gave them those tickets. So in return I told them jokingly I expected a funnel cake when they come up on Sunday. I had to share it with everyone in the shop as it was way too much for me. But it was good!!!!!.

After work I headed home and was so tired I could not concentrate on my homework. I asked Grumpy to get some Chinese (he had to go to 3 places as the first two where closed) and then decided to take the 20% grade deduction for not turning in my paper by midnight - but go on to bed. I figured the paper would have been no good had I written it last night so I rather do it tonight when I am a bit more awake. The Chinese was good we hadn’t tired that place – my bean curd was awesome. I had the rest for lunch. But breakfast was even better. Grumpy worked until 6 am so he stopped at Panera and got me a chocolate chip bagel. I love those but the bagel places here will only make it for February.

I want a pool

The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful. Grumpy got me in trouble at my meeting. He was feeling frisky and sent me a text message that was meant to make me squirm but made me laugh. I got back yesterday afternoon and after picking up some german food (dumplings, spaetzle, brussel sprouts and gravy) I went home. Grumpy greeted me very happily (I had been gone since Wednesday morning). The pups and kitties were just as excited. After some "extra curricula activities" I started on my homework. I had to do a simulation about health care operation management and then write a paper about it. It was getting late and I just wanted to be done so I just typed away. I was finished about 1am and started to close some of the word docs I did not need anymore when I inadvertently closed my paper without saving it. I could have screamed, I was so mad at myself. The paper was due at midnight, so I had to do it all over again. By the time I got to bed it was after 3pm. Grumpy woke me a little after 7 am but had a hard time to get me and Cleo out of bed. You can imagine I am just a bit sleepy, I just got back from Starbucks with my Venti Double Chocolate Chip frappuchino with 3 shots of esspresso. The picture showes my car thermometer today. It was 150F when I got in. The car was parked in the shade with the windows open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is ridiculous we should be given off due to the heat. I remember growing up (no A/C anywhere in Germany) We'd get to go home at 9 or10 am when it got into the 90's. We'd go home grab our pool bag and head to the big pool (there was only one outdoor pool for my town). We'd hang all day in the pool and and then walk home after closing. Those where the good times, I miss being a kid but more than that I miss being home.

Housewarming, school and work

FW:
Originally uploaded by dino0477.

Saturday Grumpy and I both took off work so we could attend the housewarming party of one of my associates. She inherited this old house from her grandma and had it completely renovated. It looks amazing inside. Grumpy and I were supposed to have lunch with friends that day but they never called (turned out later the plane was 6h delayed) so when we got to the party I was starving. The only thing there for me to eat however was chocolate covered strawberries. So we stayed a respectable amount of time and then headed to the Restaurant where I got to eat my favorite Pasta and I got to rub in Brazils loss to the cook (hihi I know I am evil). We were going to go and catch a movie but ended up being to tired so we just went home.

It looked like I was going to be off from the park on Sunday. I had not been scheduled and I had not been called in as of Saturday. When I stumbled out of bed Sunday at around one a clock I went to check my cell and found a call from the park asking me to come in. The call was from 9 o'clock and I was hoping they did not need me anymore so I called them back. Well needless to say I ended up working in that heat. I have to say I do not like working on holiday weekends especially when it is hot. Most of the guests are really crabby and tend to take it out on us cast members.

Monday was my last day of school for my current class. I am glad this one is over and now I have a mini break till next week. The teacher in this class was not one of my favorites. Hopefully the next one will be better. Last night at the restaurant was great. I guess aside from the chains we were the only ones open because we were busy. I had no great tips but all good ones and my tables were all nice. The cooks had made bruschetta as appetizer mhh yummy it was so good.

Well let me go and fix something to eat and then I got to get ready for the Germany vs Italy game. I hope the Germans are prepared especially since one of their guys is not allowed to play. I may even start working on the other blog.

Sunday

So as on most Sundays, I worked in Busch Gardens again today. It was unbelievably boring. I was in the store called German Gifts. Here they sell everything from Cockoo Clocks to nut crackers, Christmas ornaments and Beer steins. The picture above is fromthe store. As you can see that Nutcracker is hugh - next to him are the store doors. You can buy this one for about $7000.
There were a lot of people in the park today but not many had the money to buy stuff at the store so the time did not seem to pass at all. Of course the fact that I was up until 5 am finishing homework and did not get much sleep did not help either.

One of my friends texted me the scores for todays games and their outcome was pretty much as I had predicted. The next round should be interesting Germany will have to step up if they want to beat Argentina and England will have to play a bit better to advance further.

As I was walking out of the park I checked my voicemail and had a message from one of my host families - something about an accident. So I called the hostmon back just to find out that the au pair ran a red light and got in an accident and the preceded to leave the SCENE!!!! The hostmom told her to go back and by then the cops were already there. So this week should be fun.

I met Grumpy at the bar were we first met for a quick dinner. I had hoped to run into one of my friends that I had not seen in awhile but she wasn't there. I had left her a message that we where there and she did call me as we left. It was nice to chat with her and we made plans for next week when I am off from school. I have to say I have been a terrible friend of late as I am always busy. So I will try to be better.

Mad house

I just got home and checked my emails since 4pm (when I left my office) I had gotten 79!!! emails. As you can tell by the picture I am sitting on the couch with my laptop on my lap (thats where it is supposed to be right - lap top!?!??)

Anyhow I haven't had any time to blog at work, since one of my patients died. That is always so much paperwork and hassle, getting the medical records filling out the serious adverse event paperwork and reassuring the pharma concern that it was not their drug causing it. If you think that sounds mean - I lost my compassion for this particular patient after he kept refusing to stay clean and took rehab as a paid vacation. And surprise, surprise his drug test (which is done routinely when patients are in a coma) was positive for coke. He woke up just to have 2 cardiac arrests and then died. So no time to do extra curricular actvities at work.

The 79 emails are from my other job (the au pair job) hell is breaking loose as the state department changed rules in regards to the educational component for the girls. So lots of back and forth in our little LCC grapevine. Of course the law of three kicked in and I got a call from one of my girls. She is not getting along with her host parents and I am sure I will have to go and talk to everyone this weekend but I have a feeling I will have to find her a new family and them a new au pair - personality conflicts are hard to get over. And sure enough number 3 hit tonight. I had a message from one of my former families (they moved to DC and have a new LCC). They have problems with their au pairs and asked if I knew of someone that could replace her. Talk about timing the above meantioned girl would fit great (from what I can tell). Thats kind of nice for me to know as I can tell the au pair not to worry as I will be able to find her a new family.

The restaurant was pretty slow today nothing much to report from there. Didn't make much money but had pretty much pleasant tables and got a nice dinner myself (Penne with a Marsalla wine sauce - yummy)

For those of you not following the world cup GERMANY won today!!!!!!!

Well let me go and do some homework so I can go and play with my babies before they get too mad at me and the computer.

Rest of the weekend

So it is Monday morning and I am at work. I just can't get motivated enough to actually work so I figured I update my blog and tell you about the rest of my weekend.

Well actually there is unfortunately nothing really to tell. Saturday morning I spend doing homework for my University of Phoenix class. My current teacher insists on having assignments turned in on Saturdays which really sucks because you do not have the weekend to work on the.
I went to work at the restaurant, got the same lousy section as the night before and ended up not making any money to speak of. It annoys the crab out of me (the section thing) but I guess I understand it to. My bosses son is waiting tables with us till July so he hooks him up (unfortunately his son is not the greatest waiter and my boss ends up having to help him) with the best section and the most tables. And to make matters worse one of the waitresses is dating my bosses best friend so she also gets great sections with lots of tables. I mean I made good money for what I had, I just did not get many tables (17 people - everyone else had 25 and more). The funny part is my boss loves me so that's kinda confusing. He seated me at 6:30ish the last time so when my last table got their check at about 7:45pm I told him what sidework I would do and if there was anything else he wanted me to do. He is like"you can't leave now" and my response was "R. You have not seated me in an hour and a half". R said "well get your tables cleaned and I seat you again (mind you 2 of my tables had been clean and set up for over an hour) So my response was "I have a party to go to so I do not want anymore tables, I am leaving". That was it, I did my cleaning and was out of there and at home before 9pm.

I called my friend whose b-day it was and told her we'd be over soon. I went home finished my homework and my friend called again. She said everyone had left to go to the club. I told her not to worry about us but to go on and go with them we'd see her tomorrow. (knowing grumpy in a club with a bunch of drunk and obnoxiously girls not a good idea.) Anyhow we decided to go and see X-man III. I have to say I was rather disappointed and Grumpy - an avid comic book reader- kept saying that is not how the book goes.

Sunday I had to work at a local Amusement Park - BUSCH GARDENS. I work in the merchandise department in Germany but tend to be loaned out throughout the park. I have worked there for 5 years and do it just for the benefits, right now just once a week. So I worked in my store for like 30min before I was sent to work in Games for a bit, after getting back to my store I was sent out to help a merchandise store in England putting away a big shipment. It did not take me long (matter of reorganizing the shelves and using common sense) and their supervisor could not believe how fast I finished and how much room they still have.
After taking my break I went back to my store and I guess the only interesting thing happened. I was talking to some guests when I glanced over to the door and saw 2 cast members with a guest that appeared to be crying standing there and using our phone to call security. I head between sobs something about lost and figured she lost her/a kid. This is nothing unusual and we know how to handle it and everyone is found and reunited with their party relatively fast. Well this girl (18) started to get hysterical and screamed at the two cast members and then at the guard. (BTW she had not the right clothes for a park - way to much bling bling) So as she gets louder I get more of the story. She lost her friends, well she did not lose them she got mad at them and walked out of where they were. The guard keeps trying to get her to describe her friends which she refuses while she keeps screaming at him (not to stereotype but she displayed behavior that I would call "hood" behavior) that he did not care and did not understand and she did not want to stand there she needs to be out looking for her friends instead of not doing anything. So after 30 min they all left the store and I look at my supervisor who told me she had a run in with her earlier. There she wanted to leave the park immediately and was asking how to get out. We decided she was high on crack or something and had lost a few too many brain cells due to that.
Incidentally not much later I had a real lost kid case. A 13 year old boy lost his uncle, he was calm, collected and gave me all the info including his uncles cell (which they had left in the car). I called security who went to look with him at the last place he saw his uncle. He was the complete opposite to the girl above.
That was pretty much the end of my shift and while walking out I ran into the guard that took the boy. I asked if they found his uncle and he replied no he took the boy to the Wild Moose Lodge where all our lost kiddies wait for their parents/party.

After getting home and soaking in the tub, Grumpy and I left to see the birthday girl. We hung out for a while and then left to go grab a quick bite at TGI Fridays ( I love their mudslides and their mash potatoes - which I eat with Jack Daniels sauce). After that I went home and crashed - well not until after I checked out my daily blog reading list.

So what did you do? I am sure it was more exciting than my weekend.

Damn blogger I lost more than half the post and had to redo it all. I think I forgot something because the earlier one was longer but I can't remember.
